Site rules

This following information sets out the list of rules for the deadhappy.com website, visiting and interacting with deadhappy.com means you agree to follow these rules (yes, it’s ironic that these rules are only available on the website itself, but that’s the law for you).

These rules might change from time to time.

  • DeadHappy aims to change people’s attitudes to death by helping them to discuss, think about, and plan for death. The website is how we do this. We provide articles, discussion forums, products and services which we hope all help people to feel better about the human inevitability of death.

  • We don’t provide advice and nothing on the site should be taken as any kind of recommendation. Any information or services we offer are intended as guidance and inspiration only, We also can’t guarantee the complete accuracy of any of the content on our site. In short…. it is up to you to make your own decisions.

  • We don’t provide advice and nothing on the site should be taken as any kind of recommendation. Any information or services we offer are intended as guidance and inspiration only, We also can’t guarantee the complete accuracy of any of the content on our site. In short…. it is up to you to make your own decisions.

  • Anything on our site is owned by us. You can read it, link to it and comment on it, but you can’t steal it, modify it or pass it off as belonging to anyone other than us.

  • We really want people to engage with and actively contribute to the development of our site and services. If you post anything on our site you must make sure it doesn’t violate any regulations or laws and you promise not to post anything that could be upsetting to anyone else. If you are under 16, you need to make sure you have permission from your parent or guardian first.

Anything you do post belongs to you, but you allow us to use that content in any way we see fit to further our mission of changing attitudes to death. You must also allow us to remove or change anything you post for any reason.

  • None. We hope that most of our user-generated content is constructive and useful in some way, however… We can’t guarantee that anything posted by a user is correct or accurate. Any opinion expressed belongs solely to the author. We take no responsibility for moderation of any user-generated content.

  • Any content and tools are provided to you free of charge. We only make money when you subscribe to a DeadHappy insurance plan, and this will take the form of either a fee from the insurer for setting up and managing the plan, or we retain part of your monthly fee as a commission, and occasionally both. All of this is included within your monthly fee, and there are no hidden extras.

  • DeadHappy is the intermediary. DeadHappy will set up and manage your plan, take payments, issue your documents, and deal with any queries you might have.

Covéa Life Ltd is the insurer. Covéa Life Ltd will underwrite your insurance and will make the payout if you die.

  • Yo, we’ll solve it. Let’s have a chat, or email us directly at [email protected] and we’ll do our best.

If you’re still not happy, you can refer your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service. For more details, you can visit their website at www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

  • By simply using our website we are collecting information about you. There is no way around this as we need it to provide our service, so if you do not agree with this, then you should not use the site.

It is not our policy to keep your personal data forever, so unless you decide to create a lasting relationship with us, we will delete anything personally identifiable after 18 months.

A lasting relationship is created by doing one of the following:

    • Opting into marketing
    • Setting up a DeadHappy account
    • Subscribing to a DeadHappy insurance plan

In these cases, we will hang on to your data until you tell us to remove it. The full details of what we collect, and how to remove it, can be seen here.
